The Chase Freedom Unlimited is an excellent no-annual feed card for all your miscellaneous non-category spend because it earns 1.5% cashback on all purchases. It also earns a generous 3% cashback at drug stores and restaurant dining, including takeout and eligible delivery services. If you use Chase Freedom Unlimited to book travel through Chase Travel℠, you'll earn 5% back on all your travel purchases.
Note that even though the card is marketed as a cash back card and states that you'll earn a % cash back, the cashback is earned in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
For example, if you earn $10 in cash back, you'll receive 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points in your account.
When redeeming for cash back, you can take your Chase Ultimate Rewards points and redeem them for cash back at 1 cent per point. You can get the cashback as a statement credit or deposited into another bank account.
If you want to use the points for travel, you can redeem the Chase Ultimate Rewards in the Chase Travel℠ for hotel, flights, activities, or car rental at 1 cent per point.
If you have another Chase card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can combine the Chase Ultimate Rewards points from the Chase Freedom Unlimited and get even more value out of your points.
