Cardholders earn 3 points for every $1 they spend on Southwest Airlines purchases. This means that for every dollar they spend on any Southwest Airlines purchase, they will receive 3 points, allowing them to accumulate points quickly and easily.
In addition to earning points on Southwest Airlines purchases, cardholders can also earn 2 points for every $1 they spend on Rapid Rewards hotel and car rental partners. This means that when they book a hotel or rent a car through one of Southwest Rapid Rewards partners, they will receive 2 points for every dollar spent, giving them even more opportunities to earn rewards.
Outside of the Southwest Rapid Rewards eco-system, you can earn 2 points per $1 spent on local transit and commuting, including rideshare services. So whether cardholders are taking a taxi, using a rideshare app, or using public transportation, they'll earn 2 points for every dollar they spend, making their daily commute even more rewarding. Internet, cable, and phone services and select streaming services also earn 2 points per $1
For everything else cardholders will earn 1 Rapid Rewards point for every dollar spent.
Southwest Rapid Reward points are redeemed at around 1.5 cents per point, and redemption rates are closely tied to the cash price of the flight. This means that if you want to redeem Southwest Rapid Rewards points for a $100 flight. you can expect to redeem 6,666 Southwest Rapid Rewards points for that flight.
